(Hartford, CT) -- Connecticut outdoor furniture retailer Porch and Patio, Inc. announced today that it filed for reorganization under Chapter 11. For over 50 years, Porch and Patio has been selling quality brands of outdoor furniture and recently earned the coveted Apollo Award from the Summer and Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association.

Despite healthy store sales during the past several years, the company recently discovered substantial cash flow and management breakdown problems that prevented it from meeting certain financial obligations.

To assist with its reorganization, Porch and Patio retained the law firm of Alderman & Alderman, Hartford, CT. “Porch & Patio has a strong history of selling quality outdoor furniture to Connecticut consumers. Unfortunately, recently discovered problems created hurtles that management could not overcome without expert assistance. We looked for the best professionals to help reorganize our business and retained Attorney Myles Alderman and his firm with a mandate to attempt to confirm Chapter 11 recognition,” said New Porch and Patio Company President Ben Fronsaglia.

“Chapter 11 reorganizations are complicated and are never an easy process. However, Porch and Patio’s management team, the secured lenders and creditors appear to share a common appreciation of both the historical problem and promise of this business. At this point, we believe the company can benefit from this reorganization,” said Attorney Myles Alderman.

In the coming days, Porch and Patio will be conducting a liquidation sale at the Orange, CT location. Furniture remaining at both retail locations will be discounted for sale to the public. "We are definitely looking to move quickly through this business period with hope to re-open and build the Porch and Patio brand up again later this year or early next year," said Fronsaglia.

Since 1986, Alderman has been representing debtors and creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations in Connecticut, Delaware and New York. Some of these reorganizations included Carabetta Enterprises, Dairy Mart, Fleming Foods, Infiltrator Systems, Handy & Harmon, Sardilli Produce & Dairy and TWA.
